MASCOT

MASCOT – Matching Adult Learners’ Skills and Competences to the Requirements of Today’s Labour Market (Ref. No. AD-2010_1a-2233) is a Nordplus Adult Education project that started in year 2010.
The purpose of this project is to strengthen dialogue between adult education providers and representatives of labour market (i.e. companies) in order to address employability gap by matching competences and skills of adult learners with those needed within work life.
The main aim of the MASCOT project is to equip adult education providers with contemporary insights on competences and skills that are most important for building adult learners’ employability and social mobility with respect to particular needs of today’s labour market.
The project partnership initially was formed from 5 institutions that represented different sectors (traditional adult education, entrepreneurship promotion, employment facilitators, private enterprises, vocational adult education) within 5 Nordic and Baltic countries:
- JSC “Global Ideas” (Lithuania) – project coordinator;
- JobInVest (Denmark);
- Pirkanmaa Westcome Adult Education Unit (Finland);
- Vis, Vuxenutbildning I Samverkan (Sweden);
- Forretningsutvikling Oslo AS (Norway).
The original application of this project was not funded by Nordplus programme; however project partners were offered the great opportunity to meet in Vilnius and to do preparatory work for improving the application.
Aiming to strengthen the partnership, three other organizations joined the project after it was affirmed a grant for running Preparatory visit. These were:
- EUC SYDs (Denmark);
- College of Business Administration (Latvia);
- Eesti People to People (Estonia).
Preparatory visit was held in 17th – 21st November, 2010. During this meeting the partners had an excellent opportunity to communicate with each other, to share the ideas, experiences in their working fields as well as in their countries and to understand their expectations of this meeting. Moreover participants had analyzed Nordplus programme projects’ features in order to understand the original application gaps that have to be filled in order to succeed in future projects. The possibilities and aspects of new projects’ ideas, objectives, possible activities and budget were also discussed.
