It appears to be a way for heterosexual women to have sex “like men,” and for heterosexual men to finally have sex the way they have always wanted to. We will explore these ideas further in chapter 5, because I do not believe that this simplification of either gender is accurate. But for the moment, let’s assume this is an accurate description of some single young people’s sex lives. So why, then, are some women being denied the chance to really have sex “on their terms” (Kamen, 2002)? There are numerous reports of pharmacists and other medical professionals interfering with women’s sexual and reproductive freedoms on the grounds of religion.
